Monthly Organised Hunts
Submitted by ianm on Wed, 2010-08-04 16:09. Organised HuntsEach month a committee member or club member organises a hunt for deer and pigs to a suitable location where the team camps or stays in a hut or lodge, usually for a weekend but sometimes longer such as our annual chopper trips over three or four days to the Kaimanawas to hunt for Sika.
A local hunt for our younger members is usually planned each year for small game such as rabbits, possums and magpies and these can be weighed in at the end of the weekend where some great prizes have been won, many kindly donated by various sponsors.

Remember safety around choppers:
* Approach the chopper only when directed by the pilot. Listen carefully to pilot’s instructions.
* Never approach the chopper from the uphill side or you will walk down into the unseen spinning
rotor blades.
* Keep well clear of the rear end / tail rotor at all times.
* If hovering when you board, transfer your weight slowly, don’t suddenly climb on.
* When destination is reached wait for pilot to open doors unless instructed otherwise.
* Never leave the chopper and head uphill or you will walk up into the rotor blades.
* Never throw any gear when unloading. Place heavier gear over lighter gear in safe area.
