Pureora Fly In Hunts
We are very excited to be booking fly in hunts to Pureora forest park again this year and this is open to all current financial members of NZDA.
This is to support DOC in managing deer numbers in parts of the Pureora forest park along with gathering information on animal numbers and bush condition
We have 12 landing sites for teams of two
• Heli-Hire Tihoi (Chris Wynn)
• Weight limit: 240kg per 2-pax load (pack/roll bag + rifle).
• DOC landing concessions fee have been waived.
• Focus: cull as many deer, pigs and goats (if encountered) as possible.
• Pureora bush is challenging – high-level bush stalking skills required.
• Meat recovery: boned out only, within weight limit.
•Extra meat recovery flights available at cost, by arrangement with Heli-Hire.
Logistics
• Flights: $400 per person
• Location: Heli-hire base – Edge of Pureora Forest, Tihoi
• Survey forms will be provided and must be completed. The collection of both data and jaw samples plays a valuable role in informing ongoing management strategies and supporting long-term conservation outcomes.
