Presidents Report December 2017

Hi to all

Well just about another year done and dusted, just the big red person to go ho ho ho and all that jolliness. Funny how that’s forgotten when customers things don’t go their way because they leave all the planning till the last minute, the joys of being self-employed and Christmas. That’s me getting grumpy because it’s too hot for a hunt, trout fishing is good but not quite the same. Snapper fishing on the west coast is going off some big fish being caught east coast going well also.

Well I hope most of you are going on a nice break over the Christmas period to recharge the batteries and have time with family. Weather looks good and remember to slip slop slap and rap and drive safely. Better to arrive a little late than take risks and not get there at all.

There’s not much happening at the clubrooms at the moment. Our bring ‘n’ buy evening was a great night, not much bought but great to catch up with everyone, good to see the raffle went to a needy person – myself! nice bag thanks Tatonka.
It hasn’t been all work. I headed off to Palmerston North for another NZDA meeting in regards to the WARO wild animal recovery operations. Renewing their permits is quite a process, not like the old days being gone by 5am and home by 9pm but a positive one. Met the CEO Peter Noble and director National Operations Hilary Aikman for DOC.

Apart from all these meetings and work I have snuck out for a few evening trout fishing expeditions with Arnold and Maurice the drug dog handler we had one night at club.

Well a bit short this month, I wish everyone a merry Xmas and a great new year and I hope Santa is kind. Just remember its three months to the roar plenty of time to get rid of those Christmas rolls around the middle.

Drive Safe

David
